Yakiniku 199 caught our attention last night as we drove along Maharlika Highway. For ₱199, the idea of unlimited samgyupsal sounded too good to pass up. So, we decided to stop and see what the fuss was all about. Ambiance and Vibe The place isn’t trying to be fancy, and that’s fine. It’s casual and welcoming—wooden tables and benches fill the space, and the bright industrial lights keep things lively. A colorful mural on one wall adds a bit of fun to the setting. You don’t come here for the aesthetics; you come to grill and enjoy. It’s the kind of place where families and friends can just relax over good food without worrying about formalities. The Food For the price, I was impressed with the variety. You get plain pork, plain beef, and marinated pork. The plain cuts might sound basic, but their sauces more than made up for it. The yakiniku sauce was savory with a slight sweetness, while the ssamjang (a Korean spicy paste) brought in a nice tangy kick. Together, they turned the grilled meat into something that tasted much better than I expected at this price point. The marinated pork was the highlight for me. It was flavorful on its own, with a mix of sweet, smoky, and garlicky notes. Pairing it with their sauces made it even better. I didn’t dig too much into the side dishes (not really my thing), but the banana in sugar was a nice touch. It balanced out the richness of the meats and left a refreshing finish. Service and Staff The staff working behind the food counter were great—friendly, approachable, and eager to help with questions. That kind of energy always adds to the experience, so kudos to them. What Could Be Better There were a couple of things that could use improvement. First, the water dispenser and the metal cups were far from each other, which was a bit inconvenient. It makes sense to place them together for easier access. The bigger issue was the plates. After washing, the small metal plates (platito, if you will) are stacked while still wet. This left us with damp plates, which isn’t ideal. Where there’s water, there’s bacteria—that’s just how it is. If you visit, I’d recommend asking for some tissue to dry your plate before using it. Better yet, Yakiniku could start placing the plates on their sides to let them dry properly. Final Thoughts Did I overeat? Yes. Did I leave with slight chest pain? Also yes. But was it worth it? Absolutely. For ₱199, the food is flavorful, the vibe is casual, and the staff make you feel welcome. Yakiniku 199 isn’t perfect, but it’s a great spot for anyone craving unlimited grilled meat on a budget. I’ll definitely be back, but next time I’ll bring tissues for the plates and try not to overdo it with the marinated pork—no promises, though!

We ate for the maximum time, which was 2 hours of nonstop eating. The service was fairly quick even though we ate there during a busy time. The food was good and the fact it was raining made it not hot for me and friends while eating and cooking the food. The portion sizes are generous especially for 200 pesos for 2 hours. Would come back again, just to not screw up cooking the meats.
